Vision

In these pages I hope to write about how I find strength when I get lost in the spectacle of popular culture. However, these pages are also made with consideration for anyone that might sometimes, feel overwhelmed by the enormity of messages within it. The foundation for this is Richie.

Richie overwhelmed me at the age of three (He is now sixteen) by doing a drawing of the Chicago skyline as seen from my apartment. This impressive view was obviously misinterpreted by my nephew at the age of three. Richie did not know or can even now comprehend, how or why I came to live there. ‘Some things can only be learnt by wisdom gathered through age’. However, he at that moment admired me, and wished to show it by emulating me.

I am an artist who has pursued his calling with passion. Being an artist has been a hardship for me, as I am not a financially successful artist. Nevertheless I am content, and I live in a place that has the impressive view of the Chicago skyline.

I saw Richie loose his first fight a few days ago. He was All State Champ in his weight category till then; And I am not sure how he will begin to transition into manhood when he is challenged; Because even as he is excelling in some things, he still has a rough road ahead (as I am sure other kids do too). Therefore I am writing my thoughts on things that sometimes overwhelm me, with the hopes that it also helps him transition well into manhood when he is challenged. ‘If he so chooses to read this blog sometime’. Nevertheless, as I said this is also written with a rooted consideration to marginal living.
